Kitchen time

Say : Now it’s kitchen time! Let’s go to the kitchen and look for some smelly-tasty vegetables ! Let’s walk to the kitchen! Hold the baby gently under his arms and tenderly swing/walk/carry him to the kitchen. Make the walk fun .Sing (Baa-Baa black sheep, have you any wool?) while walking with him….say: here we are. This is our kitchen where we can see food and drinks, learn to cook, and eat Yummy food! We can learn nutrition too! Now let’s see what kind of vegetable we will find in our fridge! Reach out and bring an eggplant! Hold up the vegetable and say :” eggplant”! Show it to the baby and say “ eggplant! eggplant!” Eggplant or aubergine has a deep purple, glossy skin encasing cream colored, sponge-like flesh dotted with small edible seeds. It has a pleasantly bitter taste. ( While talking to the baby, keep passing his hands on the vegetable ,put it from one hand to another ,make it accessible and touchable for the baby ). Hold up the eggplant and say:”purple!” show it to the baby and say:”purple! purple! “eggplant is purple!” Eggplants fall into two broad categories, either oval shaped, or thin and elongated. Eggplant is very low in calories but loaded with ”Vitamins” and “Minerals”. Eggplant contains other compounds that promote good health, even to the point of helping to prevent Cancer and lowering Cholesterol. Eggplants contain essential ”Phyto nutrients” which improve blood circulation and nourish the brain.(these nutrients are concentrated in the skin of the eggplant). The iron, calcium and other minerals in eggplant supply the essential nutrients required by the body. It contains good amount of many essential ”B complex” groups of vitamins. These vitamins are essential because the body requires them from external sources to replenish. Take the eggplant in your hand and touch the baby’s nose and say: nose! Touch the other parts of the face commenting on them: head, forehead, brows, eyes, hands, fingers, chest, tummy, waist, legs, feet . Put the baby in the seat. Approach the eggplant next to his nose and say: smell it now ,hey!! eggplant is odorless!! Touch the baby’s fac. Say: glossy ! Put the baby in the seat . Cut the eggplant into small cubes and put them in a bowl . The baby will put his hand in the bowl in order to touch and mix them say : wet and spongy ! Guide him by playing and mixing the pieces together.( the baby will get excited and start yelling while playing especially when he feels the spongy texture of the eggplant, now he will try to put a small piece in his mouth, so you have to keep an eye on him!) Let him do it by himself until he gets tired or not interested . Provide the rest time .
