Kitchen time

Say : Now it’s kitchen time! Let’s go to the kitchen and look for some smelly-tasty vegetables ! Let’s walk to the kitchen! Hold the baby gently under his arms and tenderly swing/walk/carry him to the kitchen. Make the walk fun .Sing (row , row ,row your boat) while walking with him….say: here we are. This is our kitchen where we can see food and drinks, learn to cook, and eat Yummy food! We can learn nutrition too! Now let’s see what kind of vegetable we will find in our fridge! Reach out and bring a cucumber! Hold up the fruit and say :” cucumber”! Show it to the baby and say “ cucumber! cucumber!” Cucumber has dark-green skin, crispy, moisture rich flesh, and small edible seeds concentrated near its core. Fresh cucumber can be eaten raw or in vegetable salads. Cucumbers are also the basis of a good pickle! Hold up the cucumber and say: “green!” show it to the baby and say: “green, green!” cucumber is green! ( While talking to the baby, keep passing his hands on the fruit ,put it from one hand to another ,make it accessible and touchable for the baby ).Cucumber have a refreshing taste and can be easily added to sandwiches or salads to provide extra nutrients and crunchy texture! Cucumber contains ” no saturated” fats or “Cholesterol”. Its peel is a good source of dietary fiber that helps reduce constipation by eliminating toxic compounds from the gut. It is a very good source of potassium that is a heart friendly electrolyte helps bring a reduction in total blood pressure and heart rates by countering effects of “sodium”. It has a high amount of “Vitamin K” that has a potential role in bone strength and in treatment of ‘Alzheimer”. Cucumber contains unique anti-oxidants as “B-Carotene” and “A-Carotene”, “Vitamin C”, “Vitamin A”. these compounds play a role in various disease process. Take the cucumber in your hand and touch the baby’s nose and say: nose! Touch the other parts of the face commenting on them: head, forehead, brows, eyes, hands, fingers, chest, tummy, waist, legs, feet . Put the baby in the seat . Approach the cucumber next to his nose and say: smell it now ,Mmm! Cucumber smells fresh ! Touch the baby’s face . Say : hard ! Put the baby in the seat . Cut the cucumber into small circles and put them in a bowl . The baby will put his hand in the bowl in order to touch and mix them say : wet and sweaty ! Guide him by playing and mixing the pieces together.( the baby will get excited and start yelling while playing especially when he feels the sweaty texture of the cucumber, now he will try to put a small piece in his mouth, so you have to keep an eye on him!) Let him do it by himself until he gets tired or not interested . Provide the rest time .
