Kitchen time

Say : Now it’s kitchen time! Let’s go to the kitchen and look for some smelly-tasty legumes! Let’s walk to the kitchen! Hold the baby gently under his arms and tenderly swing/walk/carry him to the kitchen. Make the walk fun .Sing (if you’re happy and you know it )while walking with him….say : here we are. This is our kitchen where we will try to find one legume and one fruit .Open the kitchen cabinet and bring some “chickpeas” and take an orange from the fruit bowl. Hold up the “chickpeas” and say :” chickpeas”! Show them to the baby and say “chickpeas!” Chickpeas are round tan legumes with nutty flavor. They are commonly cooked and ground to produce the popular dish ”Hummus” or can be used as a whole in salads. They are valued for their high protein, fiber and folate content. ( While talking to the baby, keep passing his hands on the legumes ). The important heath benefits of “chickpeas” are: strengthen your bones, reduce chronic inflammation, prevent constipation and boost your energy. Now..hold up the orange and say: Meanwhile,” Oranges are round citrus fruits that are orange in color. They can be eaten fresh or processed for its juice. They contain essential nutrients such as “Vitamin C”, and “Vitamin A”, indispensable for optimal health. The important health benefits of orange are: Fights against viral infection, protects skin, lowers risk of diseases, and prevents kidney disease. Both, chickpea and orange are rich source of fiber and other essential vitamins. They can be used in our daily diets for caring and preventing some common diseases and illnesses. And both help lower cholesterol levels, promote healthier blood pressure, and boost heart health. Take some “chick peas” in your hand and touch the baby’s nose and say: nose . Put the baby in the seat . Approach the legumes next to his nose and say , smell it now ,Mmm! Chickpeas smells dry ! Touch the baby’s face . Say : It’s rough ! ! Now, Approach the orange next to his nose and say: smell the orange now, hey!! Orange smells zesty! Touch the baby’s face. Say: pebbly! Put some Chick peas in a bowl and cut the orange into small cubes and put them in another bowl. Allow the baby to put his hand in the first bowl in order to touch and mix the “chickpeas” say: rough! rough !( the baby may get excited while playing and listening to the rattle of the seeds ,he may take a seed in his hand and approach it to his mouth ,so you have to watch him carefully!) Take the first bowl away and replace it with the bowl of orange and repeat the same procedures, say: orange is juicy and squishy!.. Let him do it by himself until he gets tired or not interested . Provide the rest time.
