Kitchen time

Say : Now it’s kitchen time! Let’s go to the kitchen and look for some smelly-tasty fruits! Let’s walk to the kitchen! Hold the baby gently under his arms and tenderly swing/walk/carry him to the kitchen. Make the walk fun .Sing (The alphabet song…a,b,c,d,e,f,g,… )while walking with him….say : here we are. This is our kitchen where we can see food and drinks, learn to cook , and eat Yummy food! We can learn nutrition too! Now we are going to open the fridge to find one kind of vegetable and one kind of fruit! That means that today we will talk about 2 different foods! Reach out and bring a red tomato and a red apple ! Hold up the tomato and say:” tomato”! Show it to the baby and say “ tomato , tomato ”. Tomato, is a pulpy and savory nutritious food that has usually a a glossy, thin skin, with a juicy red flesh containing numerous soft, edible seeds. ( While talking to the baby, put the tomato between his hands ) They are excellent sources of antioxidants, dietary fiber, minerals, and very good sources of vitamins “E” and”K”. Tomatoes stimulate blood circulation, protect the kidneys and fight different forms of cancer. Now, Hold up the apple and say : Meanwhile Apple is a delicious and crunchy fruit with whitish flesh and thick skin .Apples are one of the healthiest food a person can eat. They are continuously being praised as a ”Miracle food”. Apples are high in fiber and “Vitamin C”. They are high in polyphenots, which function as “antioxidants”. The health benefits of apples include improved digestion, prevention of stomach disorders, and liver disorders. Apples may help reduce the risk of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Both, tomato and apple are good sources of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They are low in saturated fat and cholesterol. And both have ”lycopine” because of their red coloring. Put the baby in the seat. Approach the tomato next to his nose and say: smell it now ,Mmm! tomato smells savory! Touch the baby’s face. Say: soft! Now, approach the apple next to his nose and say: smell the apple, Mmm! Apple smells delicious! Touch the baby’s face. Say: slippery! Cut the apples into small cubes and put them in a bowl. Cut the tomato into slices and put them in another bowl . Allow the baby to put his hand in the( apple) bowl in order to touch and mix the cubes ,say: wet! ( He may take a cube and start sucking it) give him time to play… then take the first bowl away and replace it with the bowl of tomato and repeat the same procedures, say: tomato is squishy! (The baby will enjoy the feeling of the soft texture and juice he will start splashing and giggling ) Let him do it by himself until he gets tired or not interested . Provide the rest time.
