Prepare ten small transparent bowls or boxes to use them as containers. Put the baby in the seat and approach the seat next to the kitchen table. Hold up the basil, show it to the baby and say: basil. Basil is green. Approach the herb next to his nose and say: smell it now, Mmm! Basil smells like licorice. Put the basil in the first box on the table. Now, take a handful of” anise seeds”, hold them up and say: Anise. Look at the color: They are brown seeds! Approach the spice next to his nose and say: smell it now, Mmm! Anise is delicately sweet! It is very aromatic! Put Anise in the second box on the table. Let’s skip to the mint now! Look at the herb: Mint is green . Approach the herb next to his nose and say: smell it now, Mmm! Mint has a strong distinct flavor. Put the mint in the in the third box on the table. Say: It’s ginger turn! Hold up the root and say: look, ginger! Show it to the baby and say: ginger is brown! Approach the root next to his nose and say: smell it now, Mmm! Ginger is aromatic, pungent and spicy . Put the ginger in the forth box on the table. Let’s discover another smell now! What do you think? Which herb we will smell now?. Put a pinch of saffron in the fifth box. Approach the box next to his nose and say: Saffron! This spice has a pungent and bitter flavor with a sharp and penetrating odor. Look at the color: Saffron is yellow! Say: We are having fun smelling all these herbs and spices; we will smell a special grey herb now! Hold up the stem, show it to the baby and say: It’s marjoram. This herb has woodsy aromatic smell! Put the stem in the sixth on the table. Let’s try to guess what smell does parsley have? Put some parsley leaves in the seventh box. Approach it next to his nose and say: smell them now, Mmm! Parsley has a fresh and pleasant flavor. But “sage” has a totally different smell! Let’s discover it! Put some sage leaves in the eighth box. Approach it next to his nose and say: smell it now, Mmm! Sage has a pine- like flavor .Look at this bright green herb! Do you know oregano? Put the herb in the ninth box. Approach it to the baby’s nose and say: oregano has a warm balsamic and aromatic flavor! And, what about this light brown spice? Pour some cinnamon in the tenth box. Approach it to his nose and say: Mmm! What a smell! It’s cinnamon! This spice has a delightful exotic flavor with a high aromatic scent!.. Hey!
