Kitchen time

Say : Now it’s kitchen time! Let’s go to the kitchen and look for some smelly-tasty vegetables! Let’s walk to the kitchen! Hold the baby gently under his arms and tenderly swing/walk/carry him to the kitchen. Make the walk fun .Sing (head and shoulders knees and toes) while walking with him….say: here we are. This is our kitchen where we can see food and drinks, learn to cook, and eat Yummy food! We can learn nutrition too! Now let’s see what kind of vegetable we can find in the kitchen cupboard basket ! Reach out and bring a potato ! Hold up the potato and say :” potato”! Show it to the baby and say “ potato! potato”! Potato is a starchy root vegetable, with generally smooth and brown skin. Its flesh features bright cream white’ with moist, crunchy texture. Hold up the potato and say: “brown!” Show it to the baby and say: “brown! brown!” Potato is brown! ( While talking to the baby, keep passing his hands on the fruit ,put it from one hand to another ,make it accessible and touchable for the baby ).Unfortunately most people eat potatoes in the form of greasy “French Fries” or “Potato Chips” that make potatoes a potential contributor to a heart attack. Potatoes are one of the finest sources of starch, vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. They contain “Vitamin D” which plays an important role in your energy levels, moods, and helps to build healthy bones, skin, and teeth.”Potatoes are potassium rich” and lots of it is found in the skin. This mineral encourages the widening of blood vessels ,and helps ensure your brain gets enough blood. The . The “B6 vitamins” in potatoes are critical to maintaining neurological health. This means that eating potatoes may help with depression, stress and even attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD). The “Vitamin C” in potatoes acts as an “anti- occidant” that delays cell damage, helps with digestion, heart health, blood pressure and even cancer prevention. Perhaps the most common use of raw potatoes specially the juice is to treat gastric and intestinal “Ulcers”. . Take the potato in your hand and touch the baby’s nose and say: nose! Touch the other parts of the face commenting on them: head, forehead, brows, eyes, hands, fingers, chest, tummy, waist, legs, feet . Put the baby in the sea . Approach the potato next to his nose and say , smell it now ,Mmm! Potato smells earthy ! Touch the baby’s face . Say : hard ! Put the baby in the seat . Cut the potato into small cubes and put them in a bowl in front of the baby! The baby will put both hands in the bowl in order to touch and mix them say : moist !! Guide him by playing and mixing the cubes together.( the baby will get excited and he may take a cube and start sucking it) Let him do it by himself until he gets tired or not interested . Provide the rest time.
