## 8 red 8 green

Prepare in advance 16 cubes

Make 2 groups of red and green cubes. One group should consist of 8 red cubes. Another group should consist of 8 green cubes. The cubes in the groups should be scattered in a random order, not put in a straight line or row. The two groups should be located away from each other to make them distinctive groups but not too far from each other so that the baby can see two groups in one location. Smile and say: Baby, which group do you thing is larger and which one is smaller? Let’s make predictions! I think group 1 is larger. Now we can check it out. We will put each group in a row. Start putting red cubes in one row counting: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Say: There are eight (show eight fingers) cubes in this group. Now we will put the other green cubes in the second row under the red ones. Start putting the green cubes, counting: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Say: There are eight (show eight fingers) cubes in this group also. Place your hand over the first group. Say: here are 8 (show eight fingers) cubes. Place your hand over the second group. Say: and here are 8 (show eight fingers) cubes. The 2 rows look the same. These groups are the same.
